As an aside and going horribly off topic here,I wanted you all to know I've gotten heavily into playing cajon. For those of you who have no idea what that is,it's a percussive instrument that has it's roots in South America. It's a specially made wooden box that may or may not have metal strings inside that gives a snare drum sound if you tap it in certain places. It can also deliver a wonderful bass drum sound, and I've found myself playing along with uTube vids of my favorite songs. Here's what one looks like:
For falling leaves, pumpkin scented candles, digging out warmer clothes, and, last but not least- it's time for those of you who love to play Holiday tunes to start shaking the rust off and start playing them again.Trust me,the next few months will not only fly by but you'll get busier with Halloween,Thanksgiving, and the next thing you know,it'll be December. And you don't want to start playing carols then if you're gonna be performing them. As an aside and going horribly off topic here,I wanted you all to know I've gotten heavily into playing cajon. Here's what one looks like: I have an LP Junior Aspire due to my being on the petite side of things and it rocks. I'm planning on starting to make cajons to sell. As you sit on top of the cajon to play it,it also makes a handy dandy seat for playing other instruments. (like ukulele!) I'm also carrying Tycoon brand cajons in my online store and they qualify for a discount at checkout. Click on the blue word cajons above & you'll be whisked away to have a peek! My first choice as a little girl musically was to be a drummer (I was in love with Ringo) to which my Mom absolutely refused "to have that noise in the house". Well,I was blessed with an innate sense of rhythm. Recently I realized I was still reacting to getting into percussion in a self denying way as Mom's old tape was playing in my head. Well,no longer. I also have a Tycoon set of bongos and a Toca Conga. On the cajon, yes, they're easy to play! To relate this back to uke,did you know playing a percussion instrument gives you a better sense of timing and rhythm on other instruments? If you're having a hard time getting in the groove,I wholeheartedly advise learning cajon, bongos,a washboard, anything that lets you have fun with developing your sense of rhythm.
