D'addario Ukulele Hub Review

7/25/2015

I stumbled upon it by accident while on Facebook. A useful, interactive, helpful ukulele site that begins with you taking a quiz as to what type of uke player you are-and then you're matched up with a particular blend of uke strings that will allegedly fit your playing personality. And there's more! A free downloadable chord  progression chart, and a way to get in with other uke players who visit the hub on social media using the hashtag #daddariouke. From what I'm seeing, there's a very friendly tribe using this on Twitter. If you want to check it out and join in all the fun,the link is here!

Summer Strumming Photo Contest

Want to show off yourself playing your ukulele? Nows your chance! Lanikai Ukulele Co is having a contest with some amazing prizes. Take a photo of yourself playing your best uke and enter the contest here.
The other exciting ukulele related discovery was my picking up a copy of "Beatles For Fingerstyle Ukulele" by Fred Sokolow. It has 25 Beatle tunes in two formats-one for the strum n sing crowd and the fingerstyle arrangement in TAB & standard notation. The arrangements are truly wonderful and would thrill any Beatle loving ukulele player! The book is arranged with the easiest songs to play at the front, and the deeper you go into the book, the tunes get somewhat  more complex.
And I'd be amiss if I didn't mention that July is traditionally a musicians time to start digging out the Yuletide/Holiday season tunes again and brush up on them. So-that being said,go find your holiday tune books or expand your library by purchasing one.

You can shop my booth here where I have holiday songbooks for ukulele and many other musical instruments.Check with your musical friends and see about organizing a little group to play the tunes & give performances.....perhaps busking or playing for folks in hospitals, that sort of thing. (be sure to check with the hospital first to find out about their policies on this sort of thing) I'm finishing up some holiday straps as well and they will give a festive look to your gigs!
