I had purchased a Luna Tribal Pineapple uke 2 christmases ago on sale, and it was in dire need of a string change and pampering. (Plus, the only Kala uke I have is a Waterman...which doesn't need any of this!) So, I did half the fingerboard to show you the with & without the dressing. It soaked in really quickly and no greasy residue!
Curiosity and staying at home so much got the better of me and I purchased this cute little kit when the Kala site had it on clearance,so I wanted to see if it was worth the $10. Plus, how can anyone resist a bottle called "fingerboard dressing"? The kit comes in a resealable bag,and theres a microfiber cloth that's machine washable. I'm one of those people who use cut up old t shirts, old wash cloths, etc so I didn't try the official cloth....besides it looked too nice. And it might be a collectable hottie when I'm 80. If most certainly made the fingerboard look darker and richer. Of course, after snapping this shot I did the rest of the fingerboard. Then, before restringing,I tried out the Kala uke polish. It does have a greasy feel but buffs off nicely. I'm not too keen on the scent, which seemed to linger for some hours after I applied it. However,it made the mahogany body just glow and almost shimmer in some places. I did the right side of the body in the polish, and the left is the without side. Not sure how well the photo shows it,but I was very pleased with the result. My first thought on the polish was it would be the same as any guitar polish, but this seemed to have a little something special....a little Tiki magic in there, perhaps. So to all you who think this is just some rebottled guitar polish,it isn't. I didn't use the two foam sponges in the kit, either. I always use a cotton swab when treating the fingerboard. On a scale of 1 to 10,I give it a 8. While the plastic bag is okay,I think it would be better to use less plastic and offer a Kala draw string pouch to place it all in instead. This makes a wonderful gift for any ukulele player!
