Lunch was magnificent at La Paz in El Segundo. And in true uke style,my newest ukulele was delivered to me in a paper grocery bag. After I got home,I checked out this little beauty which included a cleaning and some needed humidifying. The intonation is correct,it was tuned in D,I believe and the strings are still adjusting to being in C tuning. (New strings are a comin!) I don't think it was played much, the action is good and it has only 11 frets, which is fine as I rarely go past 9 anyway. The backside of the uke reveals the always uniquely shaped Harmony tuners, and it features a slightly arched back. The fingerboard is wood, along with the nut, which leads to my theory of this being an early Harmony. No label or other makers mark is on it. Here's a picture uncropped so you can see the whole thing!

This had to be the noisiest 4th on record.....and I got to see some beautiful bottle rockets without even leaving the house! Yes,I did an arrangement of "Wipeout!" for ukulele and am smoothing out the edges on that. I'm continuing to offer ukulele lessons on Skype, and the bigger news is.....
I'm being gifted a ukulele! I'll post pics and tell you all more about it once I have it. The uke of the moment is my Gretsch reso uke, which I adore. Nice big sound and of course the absolute beauty of the instrument. Ukulele straps are continuing to be made and I'm having a BIG sale in my booth right now-today is the last day of it-so if you're needing a strap for your uke, ukulele books, etc. pop on in here and shop away. Of course,I have books, etc there for many more instruments as well so do share with your friends. I'm also listed on Alignable,a networking site and am looking for other musicians, music stores, etc to connect with on that so click on the Alignable in blue font there and you'll be taken to my page. |
