I'm excited to be working on a creative idea the Universe handed me before Christmas. I was wondering what to do with all the fabric I have in my stash, and the Universe said "make ukulele blankets for soprano ukes" So starting on New Year's Eve,I made a pattern and made this little beauty. It features a different print fabric on the other side, and has a layer of soft batting in the middle that's made from recycled water bottles. (you could never tell-this feels as soft as cotton batting!) So I'm making items to pamper your uke with and with every one I sell,we're all helping to keep plastic out of our oceans, lakes, rivers, and streams and beaches. I've got two more nearly finish- these others are made from one print of fabric.
Did I mention that I hand sew these? While I love my sewing machine, I also love sitting and sewing outside and these blankets enable me to do that.
How does this possibly pamper your ukulele? Well,in chipboard cases, ukes have a habit of clunking around. Which isn't good. And,they are wonderful for laying down on a table or other hard flat surface so you can lay your uke on it without having it clunk when it makes contact. Violinists use blankets in their cases for this very purpose.
