Having a copy of Pete Seeger's book, and didn't have a PC yet. Well, one of the tuners broke, and between that and being in a treadmill job plus a relationship, the banjo remained in the case for several years as I divorced, became a full time caregiver for my mom till her passing, and was living with my Dad for awhile.
Dad was actually the one to get me into playing- when I moved in with him a lot of my stuff had to go into a storage unit, and the banjo was in there for about a year or more when he asked why I wasn't playing it. We went to go get it the next week,I believe.
The rest is history. I studied Wayne Erbsen's books- Bluegrass and Clawhammer for the Complete Ignoramous, and I recently discovered 2 finger style. I am most at home on clawhammer and 2 finger styles.
I still teach on occasion, and am currently working on singing and playing at the same time. And yes,I'm playing the tenor banjo too!
