I picked up a book on my Kindle about the Venezuelan cousin to the ukulele, the cuatro. Falling in love with traditional Venezuelan folk music about two years ago,I had to have this book!
I wrote the author asking if he had any actual paper copies, and we've wound up being friends. He had absolutely no idea that there are many ukulele players interested in playing cuatro- if not the actual instrument,at least learning the unusual and cool strumming patterns on ukulele. The book is only available in Spanish at this point, though he is very much wanting to print an english version. The author's name is Hugo Liscano and he's played the cuatro since he was 4 years of age. He's very helpful and his english is excellent- You can look up the book on Amazon here.
