Do look at my festival listings page as I did a lot of listing there just now. Unlike bluegrass/folk festivals that end when summer does, ukulele festivals go year round. Lucky us!
Projects going on right now are refurbing one of my Harmony ukes-I just put new tuners on it and had to file the zero fret a bit to get it to intonate properly (and may need more filing still) New strings are on & I feel somewhat silly- I put off changing the tuners as a luthier was convinced I'd need to file the holes in the headstock to a slightly bigger size to install them. Well instead of checking first I just plain procrastinated. Yesterday,to get my mind off the heat I decided to finally put on my "big girl pants" & just do it,and when I went to see test fit the tuner before filing,to my surprise they fit perfectly. This is an unlabeled mahogany Harmony uke that I love the tone, volume, and super skinny neck of.
Style wise,I'm still working with Venezuelan and fingerstyle blues tunes. The blues is coming along nicely, the Venezuelan tunes are needing more work. Beautiful melodies there!
If any of you are celebrating Halloween and/or The Day of the Dead with uke in hand, please let me know and send family friendly pics of yourselves in costume with your ukulele.
